What to know before you go

The cheapest place in Japan to WATCH drifting that we have found: entry is free, and the calendar runs drift on ordinary free-run days as well as on dedicated Drift Days. On the four-wheel timetable only the 10:00 and 14:00 sessions are drift (45 minutes each; grip slots are 50), so arriving at 09:00 gets you grip. Thursdays are the designated drift-or-gymkhana day, Tuesdays are kart and bike, Fridays are all-grip Lucky Friday. Cars run road-registered as they are. Booking is by phone only — no email or fax — from one month ahead to 17:00 the day before, and they need every driver’s full name; 20 cars per session. First-timers must sit a briefing. Silencers must pass shaken, and open cars need a four-point roll bar. Private-hire days are marked 占有 on the calendar and can bar non-participants, so check the month before travelling.
