ORGANISER DAYS
Autopolis (Oita) runs drift only on organiser or scheduled days: Organiser days, grip slots ¥4,600–5,600; verified 21 Sep 2026. Not the drift venue visitors expect: the circuit sells grip laps, and drift happens on shop-hired Lakeside days entered through Japanese paperwork. D1GP Rd.7–8 spectator venue.

Getting there
Mountain GP circuit in Kamitsue, Hita, Oita. The official FAQ is explicit: shuttle buses run from Kumamoto city and Hita city only when a big event is on, and at all other times you come by car or taxi (no station, no route bus, no timetable published). Nearest interchanges per the FAQ: Ueki, Kumamoto and Kikusui (Kyushu Expressway), Hita (Oita Expressway). There IS a petrol station inside the grounds; the nearest one outside the gate is 14 km away
What to know before you go
Kyushu’s famous circuit, and NOT a drift venue in the sense visitors expect: its own four-wheel product is grip laps on the 4,674 m GP course for course-licence holders. Kyushu’s drift scene runs on the separate Lakeside course (~1.7 km, resurfaced and reopened Apr 2025 with half the site as a flat pad), on days shops and clubs have hired it. The circuit’s own Lakeside booking list (current as of 6 Sep 2026) shows drift / drift-shop days on 20, 22, 23 and 30 Sep, 22 Oct (lesson day), 7 and 8 Nov, 20, 28 and 29 Nov and 6 Dec 2026. You enter through the organiser, not the circuit, and for the WAKO’S Kyushu DRIFT★League that means a printed PDF entry form with a hanko stamp, a fax to Fukuoka and a transfer to a Japanese bank account: Rd.3 (23 Sep 2026) was ¥18,000 single class / ¥13,000 Challenge / ¥8,000 twin only, entry closing 14 Sep. CAUTION: ホリドラ on the Lakeside list is HOLIDAY DRIVING SCHOOL, a grip driving school run by Autopolis itself (braking and slalom tuition), NOT a drift day. The circuit hires Lakeside out whole at ¥171,600 full weekday / ¥343,200 Sat-holiday / ¥429,000 Sunday, which is where organiser entry fees come from. The sports safety insurance bundled into the course licence explicitly excludes Lakeside running, and guardrail/tyre-barrier damage is billed to the hirer (licence holders capped at ¥110,000 for four wheels, twice a year). Also the D1 Grand Prix Rd.7 & 8 2026 spectator venue, on the racing course: 24–25 Oct 2026; tickets on sale through Lawson Ticket from 1 Oct 2026 (checked 29 Sep 2026).
