Goodyear did once say its EAGLE RS SPORT performed in D1 Grand Prix, and a Goodyear-shod car won a D1 round at Autopolis in 2014. But that tyre was the EAGLE RS SPORT, and the one still sold is the EAGLE RS SPORT S-SPEC — no source we could find establishes they are the same product, so the old result is not evidence for the current tyre. Worth clearing up one common mix-up: Goodyear in Japan is a subsidiary of the American Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Dunlop is the one owned by Sumitomo Rubber. The two get confused because of a global alliance that ended in 2015 — and in 2025 Sumitomo bought the Dunlop car-tyre trademark for Europe, North America and Oceania from Goodyear outright.
