Can You Drift at Tamada Circuit (Hiroshima)? (2026)

By Published Apr 3, 2026 Updated Oct 19, 2026 6 min read

The Rundown

  • Sportsland TAMADA, the venue people search for as Tamada Circuit (Hiroshima), says its 950 m kart course is used for drifting, but none of the 12 monthly pages of its official 2026 calendar lists a drift day.
  • There is no separate drift price. The nearest four-wheel line is gymkhana and sports running: ¥4,400 for a half day or ¥6,600 for a full day including tax, plus ¥500 entry per car, cash only (checked 19 October 2026).
  • Weekdays marked ※ on the calendar have no category yet. The circuit says a booking of two or more people turns one into the free-running day you ask for, and it takes those requests by phone (082-818-7198) or email, in Japanese.
  • Hiring the whole kart course costs ¥150,000 on a weekday, ¥200,000 on a Saturday and ¥300,000 on a Sunday or holiday before tax, booked with a written application about a month ahead.
  • The nearest JR stations are about 7 km away in a straight line, and the official site gives road directions only, so plan on a car or taxi.

Only by arrangement. Sportsland TAMADA, the venue people search for as Tamada Circuit (Hiroshima), says its 950 m kart course is used for drifting, but its 2026 calendar has no drift day, and its price table has no drift line. The closest published rate is gymkhana and sports running at ¥6,600 a day including tax, plus ¥500 per car. We checked on the official pages on 19 October 2026.

So you can drift there in principle, but nobody has put a drift day on the calendar for you. Here is how the venue works, and what it takes to get one.

What is Tamada Circuit, and what does it sell?

The official name is Sportsland TAMADA (スポーツランドTAMADA). It sits in the hills of Obayashi-chō, Asakita-ku, in the north of Hiroshima City, and it is run by a local landscaping company. There are four areas: the 950 m kart course, the paved East Short Course, the South Course and an off-road area.

The kart course is the one that matters to you. The circuit’s own course page lists the categories that use it: racing karts, rental karts, gymkhana, drifting, minibikes and motard. Its visitor rules also say that during drift running you may not watch near the track or behind the Turn 1 sign. Drifting happens here. It is just not sold as a fixed product.

What you buy (kart course)Half dayFull day
Gymkhana and sports running (four-wheel)¥4,400¥6,600
Racing and sports karts, own kart¥3,850¥5,500
Entry, per car¥500¥500
Whole kart course, weekday hire (tax extra)n/a¥150,000
Whole kart course, Saturday / Sunday or holiday hire (tax extra)n/a¥200,000 / ¥300,000

Prices above include 10% tax unless marked. A half day is 9:00 to 13:00 or 13:00 to 17:00. The gate opens at 9:00 (8:30 at weekends and on holidays) and closes at 18:00. Tuesday is the closing day, and payment is cash only. Private hire drops to ¥100,000 to ¥200,000 between 20 December and 20 February.

Is there a drift day on the 2026 calendar?

No. We read all 12 monthly pages of the official 2026 calendar. The kart course days are minibike and kart days, All Kart Days, gymkhana practice, the GCUP gymkhana series, kart races and private hire. None is labelled drift.

The upcoming weekends are already spoken for: GCUP on 29 November and the TAMADA Gymkhana Festival on 6 December 2026. The circuit closes for New Year on 30 and 31 December. The November and December pages are marked provisional, so check again closer to your trip.

The ※ days are the door, and the door is in Japanese

Most weekdays carry a ※ mark. The calendar's footnote says these days have no running category yet, and that a booking of two or more people turns one into the free-running day you ask for (one person counts as a provisional booking). That is the only published route to a drift day, and it runs through a phone call to 082-818-7198 or an email, in Japanese.

Two more limits apply. The price table has no drift line, so the rate for a drift group is not officially stated. And the private-hire terms say that three or more cars running together on the kart course need a written plan submitted to the circuit.

Why can’t you just turn up and book it yourself?

Because there is no open drift session to book. At most circuits you buy a slot that already exists. At Sportsland TAMADA, someone has to ask the circuit to create the day, agree the category with staff, and confirm the rate, all in Japanese. Without that call, a weekday you pick may become a kart or gymkhana day instead.

The drift day has to be asked for in Japanese. We do the asking.

Send us your dates and how many drivers you have. We put the request to the circuit in Japanese, confirm whether a ※ weekday can run as a drift day and what it costs, and plan the rest of the trip around it: plan a drift day in western Japan with us.

Pricing for that is simple: actual cost plus our fee, and we quote you the total first.

What should you bring, and what is still unconfirmed?

The official pages say nothing about helmet standards, clothing or car rules for four-wheel running. Treat the list below as the safe default, and confirm it when the date is agreed.

Pack this, then confirm

  • Cash: running fees and entry are cash only
  • Helmet and gloves: no standard published; see our helmet and gear rules guide
  • Licence: no circuit licence stated; overseas licence and IDP acceptance not stated (read our circuit licence guide)
  • Under 18 and on your own? Bring the parental consent form, signed in original
  • A car: the site lists rental karts only, no rental cars

How do you get there, and what is the cheaper alternative?

The address is 2137-2 Obayashi-chō, Asakita-ku, Hiroshima 731-0202. The official directions are for drivers: north on Route 183 from Hiroshima, or south on Route 54 from Miyoshi, then about 2 km up a city road following signs on utility poles. The private-hire notes mention a Hiroko bus using that road in the early morning, but give no stop name or timetable. By our own map measurement, the nearest JR stations, Kabe and Kōdo-Homachigawa on the JR Kabe Line, are about 7 km away in a straight line.

If you want a drift day you can count on, compare the options side by side.

Our Chugoku tracks guide still holds: for a drift day that is sold every day, Hiroshima drivers head to Bihoku Highland Circuit in Okayama. Sportsland TAMADA is the closer option, as long as you can make a weekday work and someone asks for the day. For more venues and dates, see the track directory and the event calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can I drift at Tamada Circuit in Hiroshima?

Only by arrangement, as of 19 October 2026. The venue's official name is Sportsland TAMADA (スポーツランドTAMADA), in Obayashi-chō, Asakita-ku, Hiroshima City. Its course page says the 950 m kart course is used for racing karts, rental karts, gymkhana, drifting, minibikes and motard, and its visitor rules cover where spectators may stand during drift running. But none of the 12 monthly pages of its official 2026 calendar lists a drift day. The way in is a weekday marked ※ (no category set yet), which the circuit says it will treat as your requested free-running day if two or more people book. Requests go by phone on 082-818-7198 or by email, in Japanese.

How much does it cost to drive a car at Sportsland TAMADA?

As of 19 October 2026, Sportsland TAMADA (Hiroshima) lists four-wheel gymkhana and sports running at ¥4,000 plus tax (¥4,400) for a half day and ¥6,000 plus tax (¥6,600) for a full day, plus ¥500 entry per car. Payment is cash only. A half day is 9:00 to 13:00 or 13:00 to 17:00. The price table has no separate drift line, so whether a drift group pays this rate is not officially stated. Hiring the whole kart course costs ¥150,000 on a weekday, ¥200,000 on a Saturday and ¥300,000 on a Sunday or holiday, before tax, or ¥100,000 to ¥200,000 in the 20 December to 20 February off-season.

Do I need a licence or membership to run at Sportsland TAMADA?

Sportsland TAMADA's official price and course pages, checked on 19 October 2026, state no circuit licence and no paid membership for free running. The free Gold member card is a points card, not an entry requirement. Minors (under 18) running without an adult must bring a parental consent form signed in original. The pages also state no helmet or clothing standard for four-wheel running and say nothing about overseas licences or International Driving Permits, so confirm both when you ask for a date.

How do I get to Sportsland TAMADA without a car?

Sportsland TAMADA is at 2137-2 Obayashi-chō, Asakita-ku, Hiroshima 731-0202. Its official access page gives driving directions only: north on Route 183 from Hiroshima or south on Route 54 from Miyoshi, then about 2 km up a city road following signs on utility poles. Its private-hire notes mention a Hiroko bus running on that road in the early morning, but name no stop and give no timetable. By our own map measurement, the nearest JR stations (Kabe and Kōdo-Homachigawa on the JR Kabe Line) are about 7 km away in a straight line. Checked on 19 October 2026.
