FDJ2 2026 Rd.5 Okuibuki Results: Mogi Takes His First Win

Manato Mogi (茂木真那斗, #270) won FDJ2 2026 Round 5 at Okuibuki Motorpark (Shiga) on Sunday 13 September 2026, beating Kaito Aoki (青木改斗, #444) in the final. Shoei Tokuyama (徳山昇英, #151) was classified third and HINATO (#620) fourth, and the series called it Mogi’s first FDJ2 win. Every placing below is provisional: the result sheet on formulad.jp is still headed 暫定リザルト, and the official standings page had not yet added Round 5 when we checked the official pages on 14 September 2026.

Who won Round 5, and how?

First, do not confuse this with the race a week earlier. Formula Drift Japan’s top class ran its Round 5 at the same mountain on 5 to 6 September, which we covered in the Formula Drift Japan Rd.5 Okuibuki report. FDJ2 came back on 12 to 13 September for a weekend of its own. FDJ2 is a championship in its own right inside Formula Drift Japan, with its own standings table, its own driver list and a combined FD JAPAN/FDJ2 licence on the official site; the three-championship structure is set out in our Formula Drift Japan guide.

Saturday was tansō (単走), solo judged runs scored out of 100. Kaito Aoki took P1 with a 91 backed by an 85, which mattered, because Riki Nakamura (中村龍輝, #1) also scored 91 on his best run but banked nothing on the other and was ranked second. Mogi was third on 88, Fuuga Kimura (木村楓雅, #63) fourth on 87 and Tokuyama fifth on 85. Thirty-eight drivers appear on the official result sheet, and the Top 32 cut fell at 68 points, close enough that four drivers who scored 64 to 67 went home with a single point.

Sunday was tsuisō (追走), the tandem chase battles that decide the round. Mogi beat Eita Uehara (#831) in the Top 8 and HINATO in the semi-final, then took the final from Aoki. With 5 qualifying points plus 100 for the win he scored 105 for the weekend. Aoki’s 87 is worth noting too: he had retired without scoring in three of the first four rounds, so one weekend at Okuibuki nearly tripled his season total.

The bracket: which battles are worth rewatching?

The one to rewatch is HINATO against Nakamura. The championship leader had won two of the first four rounds and finished second in the other two; at Okuibuki he went out in the Top 16 to the 15th qualifier, and his 38 points were his worst return of the season. The Top 32 had already been unkind to the seeded runners: 24th qualifier Chen Chiyun (#595) put out ninth-placed Tatsuya Kobayashi (#62), 22nd-placed Happy Kobayashi (#103) beat 11th-placed Kei Maeda (#86), and 20th-placed Yuki Inaoka (#34) beat Keito Butsusaka (#60).

Who leads the FDJ2 championship after Round 5?

As of 14 September 2026 the official standings page on formulad.jp still carries Rounds 1 to 4 only, with the Round 5 column blank. The middle column below is each driver’s provisional Round 5 score from the official result sheet, and the right-hand column is our arithmetic, not an official standing, until formulad.jp updates the page.

The scale on the result sheet is 100 battle points for the win, then 80, 64, 48, 32 and 16 for each earlier exit, plus 7 down to 1 for qualifying. The most anyone can add at Okayama is 107. On that arithmetic Nakamura is 50 clear of Mogi with one round left, so an ordinary weekend keeps him in front, but a Top 32 exit paired with a Mogi win would not. Jayce and Tokuyama are 89 and 103 behind, which keeps both of them mathematically alive. It is the third different winner in three rounds: Nakamura took Ebisu West, Tokuyama beat Nakamura in the Sugo final with Mogi third, and now Mogi has his own.

Next round: the Okayama finale, and the mountain you just watched

Both championships end at Okayama International Circuit (Okayama) over 2 to 4 October 2026: FDJ2 Round 6 on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October, the top class on Saturday and Sunday. Advance tickets are ¥3,800 and same-day tickets ¥5,000, each a single-day pass valid for any one of the three days, with car parking at ¥1,650 sold on the day only. Okuibuki itself is the harder trip, and it is the one most visitors actually want, because the circuit is a ski resort’s car park above Maibara and it runs open drift days. There is no practical rail or bus link to the gate. The community bus and the city’s shared taxi both stop at Kōzuhara, roughly three kilometres short, the shared taxi has to be booked by phone in Japanese at least an hour ahead, and the resort’s own shuttle is quoted in Japanese only.
