Combat Eye covers costs ¥19,600 to ¥37,200 ex Japanese tax as of 30 September 2026, depending on the chassis and on which of four versions you pick: closed, open, indicator type or light type. They are the black FRP panels that replace the headlights on half the S-chassis in Japanese drift paddocks, and the one ORIGIN Labo. part that travels by courier rather than crate, which makes them the easiest thing in the catalogue to buy from abroad.

All four replace the factory headlight unit outright; the maker calls them a direct replacement type, moulded in FRP with a black gel-coat finish and sold unpainted. What differs is what sits in the opening.

The Z33 gets closed or open only, ¥20,700 either way. Single sides run ¥9,900 to ¥20,700, so a repair after a wall does not need a pair. The S13 and S14 kouki are also sold as mixed pairs, open one side and closed the other, at the open-pair price. The 180SX has pop-up lamps, so it gets one multi-type cover rather than four versions: ¥22,900 the pair, ¥14,100 a side. The S14 was facelifted in 1996 and the openings changed, so ORIGIN Labo. lists every version twice, zenki (1993 to 1996) and kouki (1996 to 1998). Order under the front the car wears, not the year on the registration; the S14 page of the catalogue shows both sets side by side, and the same rule applies to the Drift Line and other S14 kits.
Right, left and the steering wheel
The maker’s pages say right is the driver’s side and left the passenger side. That is written for Japan, where the driver sits on the right, so right means the car’s right-hand side. On a left-hand-drive 240SX or S14 the right cover still goes on the right of the car, which is now the passenger side. Tell us which side you need and we check it against the part code before ordering.
What the maker tells you before you buy
Three lines appear on every Combat Eye page in the shop, and they are worth taking literally. Mounting screws and hardware are not included, so plan on your own fixings. The part is not compliant with Japan’s shaken inspection, which is the maker’s way of saying it is a competition part. And the finish is black gel-coat, unpainted: it looks finished from a metre away and most owners run it as delivered, but it is not paint. Outside Japan the lighting question is yours: the light type restores a headlamp, but whether the supplied units meet your country’s certification is something to check before you fit them on a road car.

Why it is the easiest ORIGIN Labo. part to buy from abroad
A Combat Eye pair is a small box, not a crate. It ships by tracked courier at parcel rates, which is a different world from the crated sea freight a bumper needs, and it shares a box with the other small ORIGIN Labo. parts people add at the same time: the pillowball arms and tie rods for the S-chassis, lenses, a set of canards. If a kit or fenders are on the same order, the covers simply ride in the crate. Do ORIGIN Labo. Combat Eye covers fit both S14 zenki and kouki?
No. ORIGIN Labo. lists Combat Eye covers separately for the S14 zenki (1993 to 1996) and the S14 kouki (1996 to 1998) because the headlight openings differ, and the 180SX gets its own single multi-type cover for its pop-up lamp front. Are Combat Eye covers legal to drive with?
