Drift Events Near Tokyo on 17–18 October: Nikko and Fuji (2026)
The Rundown
- Two competition days sit back to back around Tokyo: D1 NEXT Series Central Rd.4 at Nikko Circuit (Utsunomiya, Tochigi) on Saturday 17 October 2026, 08:30 to 16:30, and Formula Drift Japan 3 (FDJ3) Rd.5 at Fuji Speedway Drift Park (Oyama, Shizuoka) on Sunday 18 October 2026.
- Entering D1 NEXT at Nikko costs ¥19,800 including insurance and tax, plus ¥2,200 for a provisional D1 licence if you hold none. Payment is in advance only, and the organiser FLUKE gives no refunds from ten days before the event.
- Watching at Nikko: FLUKE says non-participants pay admission and that no advance ticket is needed for any current event, but the amount is not officially stated as of 6 Oct 2026.
- Watching at Fuji: the FDJ3 Rd.5 ticket line still reads Soon on 6 Oct 2026. At FDJ3 Rd.1 on the same pad you paid ¥1,200 at the Fuji Speedway gate plus ¥2,000 cash at the Drift Park entrance, with parking free.
- Nikko Circuit's own map page gives only driving directions from Utsunomiya IC. Fuji has a weekend route bus: the first one leaves Suruga-Oyama Station at 8:35 and reaches the East Gate at 8:47, and the last one back leaves the East Gate at 16:05.

The 17–18 October drift weekend at a glance
Yes. D1 NEXT Series Central Rd.4 runs at Nikko Circuit (Tochigi) on Saturday 17 October 2026, and Formula Drift Japan 3 (FDJ3) Rd.5 runs at Fuji Speedway Drift Park (Shizuoka) on Sunday 18 October 2026. Entering D1 NEXT costs ¥19,800 plus ¥2,200 for a provisional licence, while the spectator price at both venues is not officially stated as of 6 October 2026. Fuji has a weekend bus to the gate; Nikko, in practice, does not.
That puts two different drift series on consecutive days within reach of Tokyo. D1 NEXT is the open-entry regional tier of the D1 Grand Prix, and FDJ3 is the entry series of Formula Drift Japan. Both finish with tsuiso (追走, the lead-and-chase tandem battles), which is what you came for.
What runs on each day, and where?
We checked on the official pages on 6 October 2026: Nikko Circuit’s October calendar, FLUKE’s entry, ticket and event pages, the Formula Drift Japan event page, and Fuji Speedway’s fee and access pages.

Two things trip people up. First, Nikko Circuit is not in Nikko town. It sits on the edge of Utsunomiya, about two hours from Tokyo by car via Utsunomiya IC and Route 293. Second, Fuji Speedway Drift Park is not the Grand Prix circuit. It is a separate drift pad inside the Fuji Speedway complex, renamed from the Multi-Purpose Driving Course on 1 April 2026, so older Japanese pages still use the old name.
Nikko also restricts general spectating on ordinary running days. A competition day like this one is the reliable way to watch there. Our Nikko Circuit guide explains why.
How much does it cost to watch or to drive?
| Tier | What you get | Cost, as of 6 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Watch Nikko on your own | Admission on the day | Charged to non-participants; amount not officially stated. FLUKE says no advance ticket is needed |
| Watch Fuji on your own | FDJ3 admission | Ticket line reads Soon. Budget from Rd.1: ¥1,200 adult gate + ¥2,000 cash at the Drift Park, parking free |
| Drive D1 NEXT at Nikko | Competition entry | ¥19,800 incl. insurance and tax, + ¥2,200 provisional D1 licence if you hold none |
| Drive FDJ3 at Fuji | Single-round entry | Not sold. FDJ3 is a season entry, and 2026 applications have closed |
| Both days, transport handled | Nikko Saturday, Fuji Sunday, the driving between them | Actual cost plus fee. We quote a total first |
Fuji Speedway’s own fee page lists ¥1,200 for adults, ¥900 for high-school age and free for junior-high age and under. It also says race and event days are priced on each event’s own page, which for FDJ3 Rd.5 is still blank. So treat the Rd.1 figures as a budget, not a promise. What happened at that round is in our FDJ3 Rd.1 Fuji report.
If you plan to enter D1 NEXT
FLUKE takes no entries paid on the day. You submit the Japanese web form, then pay in advance by domestic bank transfer or PayPay. From ten days before the event (7 October by our count) nothing is refunded and a no-show counts as a retirement. No closing date for entries is printed, so do not wait for one.
The provisional licence is what makes D1 NEXT open to drivers with no competition licence. How the six regional series fit together is in our D1 NEXT Series explainer.
Can you get to Nikko and Fuji without a car?
This is where the weekend gets hard.
Saturday, Nikko Circuit. The circuit’s official map page is a list of driving turns from Utsunomiya IC on the Tohoku Expressway: left after the toll gate, right onto Route 293, under the expressway twice. It names no station and no bus. The address is 984 Takamatsu-cho, Utsunomiya. Getting there for an 08:30 start without a car is not something the official pages help with.
Sunday, Fuji Speedway Drift Park. Fuji’s access page says weekend route buses run from Gotemba Station and Suruga-Oyama Station. Fujikyu Mobility’s timetable (revised 7 April 2025) shows these services on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays:
| Route (Sunday 18 Oct) | To the East Gate | Back from the East Gate |
|---|---|---|
| Suruga-Oyama Station | 11 buses, first 8:35 → 8:47, last 15:30 → 15:42 | 10 buses, last 16:05 → Suruga-Oyama 16:25 |
| Gotemba Station, bay 5 | 9:40 → 10:01 and 10:35 → 10:56 | One bus: 14:05 → Gotemba 14:30 |
Suruga-Oyama is the station that works in both directions. The catch is the start time: FDJ3 has not published its programme, so whether the 8:47 arrival beats the first run is unknown until it does.
Both days in a row. Nikko is north of Tokyo; Fuji is south-west. Doing both means leaving Utsunomiya after a 16:30 finish on Saturday, crossing the Tokyo area, and being at a small station near Mt Fuji for an 8:35 bus on Sunday. Without a car, Saturday’s leg to the Nikko gate has no published public option at all.
The step that breaks this weekend: Nikko's gate and the overnight switch to Fuji
Nikko Circuit has no bus to its gate, and the Fuji bus only helps if you are already at Suruga-Oyama by 8:35 on Sunday. We handle the driving between Tokyo, Nikko Circuit and Fuji Speedway Drift Park, check the gate fees on the morning, and read the Japanese notices for you. Watch both days with us: Nikko on Saturday, Fuji on Sunday, the transfers between them handled.
What should you plan around?
Bring cash. FDJ3 collected its Drift Park fee in cash at Rd.1, and FLUKE does not print how Nikko’s admission is paid. October mornings in Utsunomiya and at the foot of Mt Fuji are cool, so pack a warm layer for both starts.
Both rounds sit on the TSUISO event calendar, and each has its own page: D1 NEXT Central Rd.4 at Nikko and FDJ3 Rd.5 at Fuji. If you want to drive the Fuji pad yourself on another visit, our Fuji Speedway Drift Park guide covers the licence and day tickets.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a drift event near Tokyo on 17–18 October 2026?
Yes, two. D1 NEXT Series Central Rd.4 runs at Nikko Circuit in Utsunomiya, Tochigi, on Saturday 17 October 2026 from 08:30 to 16:30, organised by FLUKE. Formula Drift Japan 3 (FDJ3) Rd.5 runs at Fuji Speedway Drift Park in Oyama, Shizuoka, on Sunday 18 October 2026 as a one-day round. Nikko is north of Tokyo and Fuji is south-west, so doing both means crossing the Tokyo area on Saturday night. As of 6 Oct 2026.
How much does it cost to watch D1 NEXT at Nikko Circuit on 17 October 2026?
The amount is not officially stated as of 6 Oct 2026. FLUKE's entry page for D1 NEXT Central Rd.4 at Nikko Circuit (Tochigi) says everyone who is not a participant pays admission, and FLUKE's ticket page says no current event needs an advance ticket, so you pay on the day. Entering as a driver costs ¥19,800 including insurance and tax, plus ¥2,200 for a provisional D1 licence if you hold none.
How much are FDJ3 tickets at Fuji Speedway Drift Park on 18 October 2026?
Not published yet. On 6 Oct 2026 the ticket line on the official Formula Drift Japan page for FDJ3 Rd.5 at Fuji Speedway Drift Park (Shizuoka) still read Soon. For a budget, FDJ3 Rd.1 on the same pad in April 2026 charged ¥1,200 for adults at the Fuji Speedway gate plus ¥2,000 in cash at the Drift Park entrance, with parking free. Fuji Speedway's standing adult admission is ¥1,200, but it states that race and event days are priced on each event's own page.
Can I get to Nikko Circuit and Fuji Speedway Drift Park without a car?
Fuji, partly; Nikko, not practically. As of 6 Oct 2026, Nikko Circuit's official map page in Utsunomiya, Tochigi, gives only driving directions from Utsunomiya IC on the Tohoku Expressway and names no station or bus. Fuji Speedway Drift Park in Oyama, Shizuoka, has a weekend Fujikyu route bus: on Sunday 18 October the first service leaves Suruga-Oyama Station at 8:35 and reaches the East Gate at 8:47, and the last one back leaves the East Gate at 16:05.
