Buying a GT Wing From Japan: Prices and How a 1.7 m Wing Ships (2026)
The Rundown
- A new ORIGIN Labo. carbon GT wing set (main plane, end plates and ladder) costs ¥63,700 (1,340 mm) to ¥91,100 (1,600 mm double wing) ex Japanese tax, and the 1,700 mm set is ¥68,000, checked on the maker's official shop on 16 October 2026.
- Boot-lid rear wings for the S13, S14, S15, 180SX and JZX100 cost ¥18,500 to ¥30,600 in FRP ex-tax; the S15 Type 2 showed awaiting stock, due mid-November 2026.
- EMS takes a longest side of 1.5 m to the US, UK and Canada and only 1.05 m to Australia, Germany and Spain, so a 1.6 to 1.75 m GT wing box is over the limit for every one of them, as of 16 October 2026.
- A DHL Express piece stops at 120 × 80 × 80 cm, so a full-width GT wing travels on a pallet (up to 300 × 200 × 160 cm), billed on L × W × H ÷ 5,000.
- A Yahoo! Auctions search for GTウイング returned 7,836 listings on 16 October 2026, and several used wings were marked pickup only (引き取り限定 or 手渡しのみ).

GT wing from Japan at a glance
A new ORIGIN Labo. carbon GT wing set costs ¥63,700 to ¥91,100 ex Japanese tax, and the popular 1,700 mm width is ¥68,000 (about $425). The part is the easy half. A 1.6 to 1.75 m wing is longer than EMS’s 1.5 m limit, so it ships as courier freight on a pallet or in a sea crate. Every price and limit here was checked on the official pages on 16 October 2026.
You have seen tall GT wings on drift cars. Buying one from Japan is simple until you try to post it. Prices below are the maker’s list with the 10% consumption tax removed, because export sales are tax-free, the same way as in our ORIGIN Labo. price list. Dollars use ¥160 to $1.
What does a new GT wing or rear wing cost in Japan?
ORIGIN Labo. sells universal GT wings as a set: a wet-carbon main plane, carbon end plates and a reinforced-FRP ladder (the uprights) in 250, 300 or 350 mm. The 1,700 mm and 1,750 mm sets also offer an S15-specific ladder. The shop finishes them in clear gel-coat and recommends a clear coat for long life.
| GT wing set (universal) | Code | Ex-tax | About |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,340 mm, 3D shape | CW-M6 | ¥63,700 | $398 |

| 1,700 mm, 3D shape | CW-M1 | ¥68,000 | $425 |

There is also a dedicated Toyota 86 (ZN6) carbon set at ¥128,300 and Eagle-style carbon wings at ¥56,400 (S15) to ¥64,700. The whole range is on our universal ORIGIN Labo. catalogue. On 16 October 2026 the 1,700 mm set showed in stock, shipping in 1 to 2 business days.
A boot-lid rear wing (the low duck-tail style) is cheaper and much shorter. In FRP, ex-tax: S13 Type 2 ¥21,800, 180SX Type 4 ¥30,600, S14 Type 2 ¥25,100, S15 Type 2 ¥24,000, JZX100 Chaser Type 2 ¥28,400. Carbon versions across the range run ¥26,200 to ¥70,200. See the S15 Type 2 rear wing page for an example. That one showed awaiting stock on 16 October, due mid-November.
What do used wings cost on Yahoo! Auctions?
A search for GTウイング returned 7,836 listings on 16 October 2026. Of the first 100, 48 were marked new, mostly cheap unbranded wings. These are live asking prices and current bids we saw that day, not sold prices:
| Listing (16 Oct 2026) | Price shown | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Unbranded aluminium GT wing, 1,430 mm | ¥4,939 | Plus ¥8,420 shipping |
| Swan-neck GT wing, 1,810 mm, from an MR-S | ¥30,000 | Osaka, pickup welcome |
| VOLTEX 1,700 mm carbon, from an FD3S | ¥89,000 | 51 bids, auction still running |
| VOLTEX CT9A carbon Type 5 | ¥168,000 | 手渡しのみ (hand-over only) |
| VOLTEX dry carbon 1,500 mm | ¥250,000 | Near unused, asking price |
Notice the first row. On cheap wings, domestic shipping can cost more than the wing. Listing words like ジャンク and 現状渡し are decoded in what ジャンク means on Yahoo! Auctions.
Copies are everywhere
社外 means aftermarket, メーカー不明 means maker unknown, and 風 means "in the style of". On 16 October, 16 of the first 100 titles said ABS or カーボン調 (carbon-look), not carbon. If a listing names a brand, ask for a photo of the maker's sticker or stamp and the underside of the main plane.
Can a 1.5 to 1.8 m wing ship from Japan?
Not by post. The box has to be longer than the main plane, so a 1,600 mm or wider wing is past every EMS limit below.
| Route | Limit | What it means for a GT wing |
|---|---|---|
| ORIGIN Labo. shop (in Japan) | Large item, 160A rate | Business address or Seino depot only. ¥2,970 to Kanto, ¥4,950 to a home |
| Yamato 宅急便 | 200 cm total (L + W + H), 30 kg | A 1.7 m box is over once width plus height pass 30 cm |
| EMS | 1.5 m longest side, 3 m L + girth (2.75 m to the US) | 1.05 m and 2 m to Australia, Germany, Spain |
| International parcel | Standard A 1.5 m / 3 m, B 1.05 m / 2 m, 30 kg | Same wall as EMS |
| DHL Express piece | 120 × 80 × 80 cm, 70 kg | Too short for a full-width wing |
| DHL Express pallet | 300 × 200 × 160 cm | Fits, billed on L × W × H ÷ 5,000 |
The 1,340 mm wing is the only one that might squeeze under 1.5 m, if the seller’s box is tight. Ask for the packed length before you count on it.
On a pallet, air is what you pay for. A 180 × 50 × 30 cm box is 270,000 ÷ 5,000 = 54 kg of volumetric weight, whatever the scale says. DHL also adds JPY3,300 per piece when the longest side passes 100 cm. Sharing one crate with a bumper or bonnet spreads that cost. The routes are compared in EMS vs courier vs sea, and the crate maths is in shipping oversized JDM parts. For other big aero, see our used front bumper guide and FRP or carbon bonnet guide.
Ask before you buy
- Main plane width in mm. Not the box, the wing itself.
- What is included. End plates, ladder or swan-neck mounts, bolts and brackets.
- Cracks and repairs. 割れはありますか (any cracks?) and 補修歴はありますか (any repairs?), with photos of the mount points.
- Packed box size. Length, width, height and weight decide your freight route.
Where do overseas buyers get stuck?
At the first metre of the trip. The maker’s shop ships only inside Japan, to a business address or a Seino depot. Used sellers are worse. On 16 October 2026, one Yokohama listing for a trunk with a GT wing said 引き取り限定 (pickup only) and 発送不可 (cannot ship). A Gifu seller also said pickup only. A VOLTEX wing was 手渡しのみ, hand-over in person only. A proxy that forwards by post then hits the same 1.5 m wall.
We take the long-box step
We buy the wing, collect it from the seller, shop or depot, check it in Japan and send you photos and a walk-through video of the main plane, end plates and mount points before it ships. Then we crate it for long-format freight, with other parts if you have them, and quote you one delivered total first. Have us collect, check and crate your GT wing from Japan.
Our price is the actual cost plus a fee, with the total quoted before you commit. If you want the wing on the car for a Japanese drift day, pick the date on the drift calendar first and work back from the freight time.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a GT wing cost in Japan?
As of 16 October 2026, a new ORIGIN Labo. carbon GT wing set with end plates and a ladder (the uprights) costs ¥63,700 for 1,340 mm, ¥65,800 for 1,600 mm, ¥68,000 for 1,700 mm and ¥71,300 for 1,750 mm, ex Japanese tax, on the maker's official shop. That is about $398 to $446 at ¥160 to the dollar. The 1,600 mm double wing is ¥91,100 and the dedicated Toyota 86 (ZN6) set is ¥128,300. Used GT wings on Yahoo! Auctions range from a few thousand yen for unbranded aluminium wings to ¥250,000 asked for a near-unused VOLTEX dry-carbon wing.
Can EMS ship a 1.7 m GT wing from Japan?
No, not in one piece. As of 16 October 2026, Japan Post's EMS limit is a longest side of 1.5 m to the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and most of Europe, and 1.05 m to Australia, Germany and Spain. A 1,700 mm main plane needs a box longer than 1.7 m. International parcel post has the same 1.5 m or 1.05 m limits and 30 kg. A full-width GT wing leaves Japan as courier freight on a pallet or in a sea-freight crate instead.
Will the ORIGIN Labo. shop ship a GT wing overseas?
No. As of 16 October 2026, ORIGIN Labo.'s official shop (エアロのエース, Osaka) marks its GT wings as large items (大型配送品) on its 160A shipping rate and sends them only inside Japan, to a business address or a Seino Transportation depot. To Kanto that costs ¥2,970, against ¥4,950 to a private home, which the shop marks as not recommended. Free collection at its head office in Matsubara, Osaka is also offered. Its shipping page lists no overseas option.
Is it worth buying a used GT wing from Yahoo! Auctions?
It can be, if the wing is genuine, uncracked and the seller will ship it. On 16 October 2026, a search for GTウイング returned 7,836 listings, and about half of the first 100 were used. Listings ranged from unbranded aluminium wings at under ¥5,000 plus ¥8,420 shipping to a used VOLTEX 1,700 mm carbon wing bid to ¥89,000. Several were pickup only (引き取り限定 or 手渡しのみ), which a buyer abroad cannot do alone.
