Yes, you can buy the parts to convert an automatic JZX90, JZX100 or JZX110 to manual from Japan, and most of them are still sold new. On Yahoo! Auctions Japan, 261 swap parts sold in closed listings ending 29 April to 25 October 2026: clutch pedals and pedal sets went for ¥15,000 to ¥30,000, complete pedal-and-hydraulics kits for ¥70,000 to ¥91,000, and used manual 1JZ-GTE ECUs for ¥25,000 to ¥70,000. We checked these listings on Yahoo! Auctions Japan on 26 October 2026 and read 258 of the sale pages; dollar figures use ¥160 to $1, and prices exclude proxy fees, shipping and import tax.
Japanese sellers call the job MT化 (MT-ka, “making it manual”) or MT載せ替え (MT nosekae, manual swap). Plenty of Chasers, Mark IIs and Crestas left the factory as automatics (Toyota’s own model history dates the X100 Chaser launch to 5 September 1996), which is why so many of these parts are listed for 載せ替え. This guide covers the cabin and hydraulic side. The gearbox itself is in our used R154 gearbox guide, and the shaft behind it in the used propeller shaft guide.
What does a JZX manual swap cost in parts?
We counted only listings that sold with at least one bid, and left out gearboxes, propeller shafts, clutch discs, flywheels and whole cars.
| What sold | Sales | Price range |
|---|---|---|
| Clutch pedal, or clutch and brake pedal set | 55 | ¥15,000 to ¥30,000 |
| MT brake pedal or footrest on its own | 7 | ¥2,880 to ¥5,980 |
| Clutch master cylinder | 21 | ¥2,300 to ¥27,000 |
| Clutch release (slave) cylinder, often with the line | 24 | ¥3,500 to ¥38,000 |
| Clutch line or hose | 12 | ¥3,680 to ¥11,000 |
| Complete kit: pedals, line, master and release cylinders | 9 | ¥70,000 to ¥91,000 |
| Smaller sets (pedals plus line, or master plus release) | 13 | ¥4,720 to ¥50,000 |
| MT gearbox mount | 25 | ¥3,000 to ¥18,500 |
| R154 release fork, bearing and hub kits | 26 | ¥1,500 to ¥14,890 |
| Brackets, gaskets, rebuild kits, clevis | 26 | ¥166 to ¥4,000 |
| Shift lever, boots, MT floor tunnel, handbrake lever | 8 | ¥2,000 to ¥38,000 |
| Used 1JZ-GTE manual ECU for the JZX100 | 30 | ¥25,000 to ¥70,000 |
The complete kits are the shortcut. Their contents lists name the clutch pedal, brake pedal, clutch line, clutch master cylinder and clutch release cylinder, and some add the footrest and the shift select bushing. Buying those pieces one by one from the rows above usually costs less, but means more sellers and more boxes to collect. A few bigger lots also sold: a used console set with a floor tunnel cut from a manual car, shift panel, pedals and master cylinder went for ¥113,000 after 30 bids.
Three new genuine R154 bellhousings, listed as Toyota part 31111-14111, sold for ¥29,000 each, and the seller wrote that Toyota no longer makes them.
Are the pedals and hydraulics new or used?
Mostly new. 53 of the 55 pedal sales, 19 of the 21 master cylinders and 22 of the 24 release cylinders were listed as new (新品, shinpin), almost all described as genuine Toyota (トヨタ純正, Toyota junsei). Sellers quote Toyota part numbers in the titles, such as 12371-46150 for the manual gearbox mount and 31459-22020 for the master cylinder bracket.
The catch is how few people sell them. Seven sellers accounted for all 55 pedal sales, and one of them for 27. One seller sold the same Aisin release cylinder with its line 15 times at ¥14,500. When that one seller runs out, the row empties. Four master cylinder listings were titled 廃盤 (haiban, discontinued), and one complete kit seller wrote that the last set had gone.
Read the seller’s own notes on fit. One seller of new JZX100 pedal-and-bracket sets, 8 sales at ¥16,600 to ¥16,800, lists them as bolt-on for the JZX90, GX90 and GX100. The same seller wrote that they bought a set to try in a JZX110 and an Altezza, and it did not bolt on: the pedal length, angle and pad shape differ and the bracket holes do not line up. That is the seller’s statement, so compare your own car’s part numbers before you bid.
Which ECU do sellers list for the swap?
On the 1JZ-GTE cars, the manual engine ECU is part of the shopping list. 30 used manual ECUs for the JZX100 sold for ¥25,000 to ¥70,000, from 23 different sellers, and one unused unit sold for ¥198,000. 15 of the 31 named part number 89661-22790. Three were automatic ECUs that the seller had modified for manual (AT改MT, AT-kai MT) and sold for ¥25,000 to ¥33,000.
Capacitor leakage on the circuit board is the condition sellers advertise against: 11 titles said 液漏れ無し (ekimore nashi, no leak). An ECU that powers up on a test bench can still have a leaking capacitor, so a photo of the opened board tells you more than the word “tested”. If you plan to replace the factory unit, our used Power FC guide covers that route.
Where does buying from overseas get stuck?
Only 1 of the 258 sale pages had Yahoo!‘s overseas delivery option switched on, and none of them accepted returns. 70 said no claims and no returns (ノークレーム・ノーリターン). The winning bidder paid domestic shipping on 210, so the courier bill inside Japan only appears after the auction ends. One seller of a used JZX90 pedal and master cylinder asked buyers who cannot communicate in Japanese not to bid, and another asked for collection in person.
Leaks only show up after you bleed it
A used master or release cylinder that sat on a shelf can look clean in photos and still weep fluid past its seals once the system is filled and bled. One seller of a used JZX90 master cylinder wrote that it should be treated as needing an overhaul (OH前提). Nobody overseas finds that out until the car is apart.
The hard step is making sure the parts are complete and dry before the money goes. Questions about which brackets and clips come with a pedal set, or whether a cylinder has been bench-tested, have to be asked in Japanese, and one seller warned that replies and shipping can be slow because of their day job.
We check the swap parts in Japan before you commit
Japanese-only seller questions, no returns and parts nobody has bled are the gap we fill. We buy and receive the pedals, cylinders, mount and ECU in Japan and send you photo and video walkthroughs of each one: the pedal pivots and bracket holes, the cylinder bores and dust boots, the part numbers on every label and the opened ECU board. You decide, then we pack it all into one shipment. Have us gather, check and ship your JZX manual swap parts from Japan.
What should the photos and video show?
Manual swap parts condition check
- Pedal set: the pivot bushes, the return spring and every bracket hole. Ask whether the bracket is included, since some listings sell the pedal alone.
- Part numbers: a close photo of the Toyota label or stamping on each pedal, cylinder and mount, to compare against your own car.
- Master and release cylinders: the push-rod boot, any fluid staining, and whether the seller has rebuilt it (オーバーホール済み) or sells it to be rebuilt.
- Clutch line: both fittings, and any kinks or crushed sections on the hard line.
- ECU: the label with the part number, and the opened board around the capacitors.
What does each route cost?
| Route | What you pay | What you handle |
|---|---|---|
| DIY: proxy plus forwarder | Each part’s price, proxy fees per item, domestic shipping per seller, then international shipping, each billed separately | Finding sellers who ship to your proxy, asking about brackets and condition in Japanese, and consolidating several boxes |
| Packaged: TSUISO Parts Desk | Actual cost plus a fee, quoted as one total first | Nothing on the Japan side: we buy, check on video, consolidate and export |
The DIY route works well for one or two parts from a seller who ships by courier to a business address. A full swap means pedals, hydraulics, a mount and an ECU from four or more sellers, and each one bills its own domestic shipping. Small parts fit easily inside Japan Post’s EMS limits (checked on 26 October 2026: 30 kg and 1.5 m maximum length to the United States and Canada). The gearbox does not, which is covered in our gearbox and diff shipping guide. If you are still choosing the car, our JZX100 Chaser buyer’s guide covers the factory manual Tourer V.
Once the third pedal is in, the Japan drift tracks directory lists the circuits and what each one allows.
