The Rundown

  • On 17 October 2026, 23 used genuine rear subframes (リアメンバー, rear member) taken from S13, S14, S15 and 180SX cars were listed on Yahoo! Auctions at ¥6,050 to ¥48,389, tax included, before shipping.
  • 10 of those 23 listings said in the title that the seller will not deliver to a private home (個人宅配送不可) and ships only to a company address or a freight depot (営業所止め).
  • EMS and Japan Post international parcels stop at 30 kg to the US, UK and Canada, and at 20 kg to Australia and Sweden; Nissan does not publish what a bare rear subframe weighs.
  • A DHL Express piece can be up to 120 × 80 × 80 cm and 70 kg, and it is billed on the larger of real weight or L × W × H ÷ 5,000.
  • NISMO's Silvia (S14, S15) catalogue page lists a rear suspension mount bush kit (55400-RS590) at ¥19,000 and a diff mount bush kit (55401-RS590) at ¥23,000 before tax.

Yes, you can buy a used S14 rear subframe in Japan: on 17 October 2026, ten genuine S14 rear members were listed on Yahoo! Auctions at ¥17,600 to ¥33,000 (about $110 to $206). The hard part is the trip. Many sellers ship only to a Japanese company address or a freight depot, and EMS stops at 30 kg. Every price and limit here was checked on the official pages and live listings on 17 October 2026.

In Japan the part is called a リアメンバー (rear member) or サスペンションメンバー. Search those words, not “subframe”. Dollars below use ¥160 to $1.

What does a used rear subframe cost in Japan?

We read every listing in three Yahoo! Auctions searches (S13, S14 and S15 plus リアメンバー) on 17 October 2026. They returned 233, 249 and 193 results, mostly braces, collars and bushes. Genuine used members taken from Silvia and 180SX cars were 23 of them:

Taken fromListingsPrice shown (tax incl.)About
S14 Silvia10¥17,600–33,000$110–206
S15 Silvia6¥19,800–48,389$124–302
S13 Silvia / 180SX7¥6,050–25,300$38–158

These are asking prices and current bids, not sold prices. One more S14 member was listed as junk (ジャンク) at ¥2,750. The top S15 price was a Spec-R member described as rare and in good condition. Listing words like ジャンク and 現状 are explained in how to read Yahoo! Auctions parts listings.

Read the condition notes. Two recycler listings (S14 part number 55400-68F12 and S15 part number 55400-85F00, as the seller listed them) said the bushes were split and the member was rusty. Another seller of an S14 member said the frame was not bent but the bushes were worn and should be replaced.

Fit is your question, not the seller's

Several sellers wrote that fitment and swaps are the buyer's responsibility, and one 180SX listing noted it had no HICAS. One listing sold an aluminium collar set for ¥16,830 that its seller said lets an S14 or S15 rear member bolt into an S13 or 180SX. We quote that as the seller's claim only. Check with the maker and your workshop before you buy for a swap.

What does a full refresh cost on top?

A used member is cheap. Fresh bushes are where the second bill comes from. NISMO’s catalogue page for the Silvia (S14, S15) lists these reinforced bush kits, before Japanese tax. The page is dated April 2021, so ask for the current price before you order.

Part (NISMO)Part no.Before taxAbout
Rear suspension mount bush kit (one car)55400-RS590¥19,000$119
Diff mount bush kit (one car)55401-RS590¥23,000$144
Rear A arm set, standard55550-RS590¥32,000$200
Rear lower link set55100-RS590¥28,000$175

NISMO says its bushes need pressing in, and recommends changing the suspension mount bushes when you change rear links. If you are replacing arms at the same time, compare with our ORIGIN Labo. pillowball arms guide and the new parts on the ORIGIN Labo. S14 page.

So the price ladder looks like this:

RouteWhat you pay
Cheapest, do it yourselfUsed member ¥6,050–48,389, plus domestic freight, plus your own export freight and import duty
RefreshedThe above, plus new bush kits (from ¥19,000 each, NISMO list) and the pressing work
Through usActual cost plus a fee. We quote the total first

Duty on the landing side is covered in import duty and tax on JDM drift parts.

How heavy is a rear subframe, and can it go by post?

Nissan does not publish the weight of a bare S-chassis rear member, so we list it as TBC. Japanese sellers treat it as a heavy item. One 180SX member seller in Fukuoka charged ¥7,292 within Fukuoka and ¥11,995 to Kanto by Seino freight, and ¥13,954 to Hokkaido. That is domestic freight for one part, before it leaves Japan.

RouteLimit (checked 17 Oct 2026)What it means
Yamato 宅急便 (inside Japan)200 cm total, 30 kgSeveral sellers used freight lines (Seino, Fukuyama, Tonami) instead
EMS30 kg, 1.5 m longest side (US, UK, Canada, NZ)20 kg to Australia and Sweden, 23 kg to the Netherlands
International parcel30 kgSame ceiling as EMS for most countries
DHL Express piece70 kg, 120 × 80 × 80 cmBilled on L × W × H ÷ 5,000 if larger
Sea freight in a crateShared with other partsBest when you also buy doors, a diff or aero

A bare member may squeeze under 30 kg. One with arms, hubs or a diff will not. The diff side has its own rules, explained in shipping a used gearbox or diff from Japan. For crate maths, see shipping oversized JDM parts and EMS vs courier vs sea.

Ask before you buy

  • Nissan part number (55400-…) and the chassis it came from.
  • What is attached. Bare member, or with arms, HICAS parts, diff mounts or the diff.
  • Bushes and cracks. ブッシュ切れ (split bushes) and クラック (cracks), with close photos of every mount.
  • Packed size and weight. This decides EMS, courier or crate.

Where do overseas buyers get stuck?

At the delivery address. On 17 October 2026, 10 of the 23 genuine member listings said 個人宅配送不可 (no delivery to private homes) and 営業所止め可 (depot hold only), or that they ship only to a company. One Fukuoka seller offered pickup in person or depot delivery. None of the ten listings we opened offered overseas shipping. A forwarder that only takes parcels then hits the 30 kg wall.

We take the depot-and-freight step

We win or buy the member, collect it from the seller or the freight depot, and send you photos and a walk-through video of the welds, mounts, bushes, cracks and rust before anything ships. Then we weigh it, crate it with your other parts and book the freight. Have us receive, check and ship your rear subframe from Japan.

If the member is part of a bigger plan, a front clip or half-cut or a set of used Silvia doors and panels can share the same crate and spread the freight cost.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a used S14 or S15 rear subframe cost in Japan?

As of 17 October 2026, used genuine rear subframes (rear members) taken from S14 Silvias were listed on Yahoo! Auctions at ¥17,600 to ¥33,000 tax included, about $110 to $206 at ¥160 to the dollar, across 10 listings. Ones taken from S15 Silvias were ¥19,800 to ¥48,389 across 6 listings, and S13 or 180SX members were ¥6,050 to ¥25,300 across 7 listings. These are asking prices and current bids, not sold prices, and domestic freight is extra.

Can I ship a used rear subframe from Japan by EMS?

Only if the packed subframe stays inside Japan Post's limits, and nobody publishes its weight. As of 17 October 2026, EMS takes up to 30 kg and 1.5 m on the longest side to the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand, and 20 kg to Australia and Sweden. Japan Post international parcels also stop at 30 kg. A used rear subframe with arms, bushes or a diff attached is likely to need weighing first, and if it is over the limit it goes by courier (DHL takes pieces up to 70 kg) or sea freight.

Why won't Japanese sellers ship a rear subframe to my address?

Many Japanese parts sellers class a rear subframe (rear member) as a large or heavy item. On 17 October 2026, 10 of 23 used S13, S14, S15 and 180SX rear subframe listings on Yahoo! Auctions said they would not deliver to a private home and would ship only to a company address or a freight depot such as Seino or Fukuyama. They also only deliver inside Japan, so someone in Japan has to collect it, check it and arrange the export.

Does an S14 rear subframe fit an S13 or 180SX?

We do not judge fitment. As of 17 October 2026, one Yahoo! Auctions listing sold an aluminium conversion collar set for ¥16,830 and its seller described it as letting an S14 or S15 rear subframe mount in an S13 or 180SX. Treat that as the seller's claim. Confirm with the maker of any conversion part, and with your own workshop, before you buy a member for a swap.
